Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP)
Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has emphasized that the second phase of the
China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) will transform Pakistan’s economy by
driving industrialisation, modernising agriculture, and creating new
opportunities in IT, renewable energy, and real estate development.
In an interview with Chinese
media outlet CGTN, Bilawal underlined that Pakistan-China cooperation will now
expand into advanced sectors, including solar and wind power, electric
vehicles, and artificial intelligence. He noted that these initiatives would
strengthen socio-economic development and ensure that both nations benefit from
the long-term vision of CPEC.
“The second phase of CPEC will
help Pakistan move towards sustainable economic growth by adopting advanced
technologies and modern industrial practices,” Bilawal said.
He also welcomed China’s
Global Governance Initiative, calling it crucial for addressing pressing global
challenges such as climate change, terrorism, and pandemics.
Bilawal praised Prime Minister
Shehbaz Sharif’s recent visit to Beijing, noting that the new Pakistan-China
action plan reflects concrete steps to advance CPEC Phase-II. He highlighted
that Pakistan could particularly benefit from China’s expertise in modern
technology, smart infrastructure, and industrial development, all of which will
have a direct impact on real estate, construction, and investment opportunities.
Concluding his remarks,
Bilawal quoted a Chinese proverb, expressing hope that Pakistan will not only
rely on external support but also “learn to fish” by building its own capacity
through technology and innovation.
