Islamabad Lawmakers Back CDA’s Infrastructure and Civic Development Plans

Lawmakers representing the federal capital have voiced strong support for the Capital Development Authority (CDA) in addressing Islamabad’s pressing civic and infrastructure needs, pledging joint efforts for the improvement of both urban sectors and rural areas.

In a high-level meeting between parliamentarians and CDA officials, discussions focused on key development priorities, including:

  • Beautification drives across the city
  • Expansion of public transport facilities
  • Provision of clean drinking water to underserved areas
  • Upgradation of road networks and sewerage systems
  • Enhancement of green spaces and parks

Balanced Urban and Rural Development

Lawmakers stressed the importance of balanced development, pointing out that rural areas surrounding Islamabad often lag behind in access to basic civic amenities compared to urban sectors. The CDA assured that ongoing and upcoming projects will equally address both urban planning and rural infrastructure.

CDA’s Ongoing Initiatives

According to CDA officials, the authority is accelerating road repair works, upgrading sewerage systems, and launching digitisation initiatives to make public services more efficient and reduce inconvenience for residents. These digital upgrades aim to streamline property records, housing society approvals, and civic service requests, making processes faster and more transparent.

Transparency and Monitoring Mechanisms

Both sides agreed on establishing a monitoring mechanism to ensure timely completion of projects while maintaining transparency. Lawmakers also committed to regular follow-ups and urged the CDA to provide public progress updates to enhance community engagement.

This collaborative effort between Islamabad’s lawmakers and the Capital Development Authority marks a significant step toward sustainable urban development, improved public facilities, and the uplift of rural communities.
