In a major step towards
resolving Punjab’s housing crisis, Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif
officially launched the e-portal for the 'Apni Zameen, Apna Ghar' programme,
a groundbreaking initiative designed to provide free 3-marla residential
plots to the province's homeless citizens.
The new portal — azag.punjab.gov.pk — makes
the application process fully digital, allowing eligible applicants to apply
from the comfort of their homes. The launch marks a pivotal shift in making
home ownership more accessible to the underprivileged segment of society.
Speaking at the launch event,
CM Maryam Nawaz emphasized the personal and national importance of this
programme. “Every day, 300 new homes are being built in Punjab,” she
shared, highlighting the government’s fast-paced commitment to housing the
homeless. In the first phase, 2,000 residential plots will be
distributed across 23 housing schemes in 19 districts, including Jhelum,
Pattoki, Mamun Kanjan, Lodhran, and Renala Khurd.
This initiative is a part of
the broader ‘Apni Chhat, Apna Ghar’ vision, which aims to construct over
34,000 homes for deserving families across Punjab. The Chief Minister
proudly stated that 2,000 homes have already been completed, and that no
previous government has achieved such progress even over full tenures.
Successful applicants will not
only receive a free plot, but can also apply for low-interest
construction loans, with a three-month grace period to start
building. Installments are structured to be easily manageable, making it a
sustainable path to home ownership.
Punjab Housing
Minister Bilal Yasin confirmed that
loans worth Rs36 billion are being extended to over 33,500
beneficiaries, showcasing the scale and financial backing of this
initiative.
Transparency and fair
distribution are central to the process. All applications must be submitted via
the official portal, and beneficiaries will be selected through a computerized
draw system.
At Dreams Marketing, we
applaud this visionary programme and encourage all eligible citizens to take
full advantage of this life-changing opportunity. Owning a home is no longer
a dream — it’s now a real possibility.
